A Small Snippet from a Superb Story
In 2019 we had the joy of birthing A Latere Academy. A Latere is Latin for Alongside. The dream of “alongside” began in Ellen’s heart. Ten years of classical education experience gave her unique insight into the struggles and joys of home education. These struggles helped shape the ministry that now serves her own family as well as many others.
What is A Latere?
A Latere is a Classical, Christian hybrid-school. We teach, educate, & disciple students. We train, equip, & encourage parents. We walk alongside families that are raising up the next generation of gospel world changers.
We train and equip parents to be the primary educator at home while offering students a Christ-centered classroom two days a week. We are passionate about partnering with parents, empowering them in the role of primary educator and disciple maker.
In four short years, A Latere has experienced double-digit growth, expanded to multiple locations, and added grades. We are excited to launch high school in 2023 with a small freshman class adding a grade each subsequent year. This model of education continues to grow due to challenges within public schools and the rising cost of private education. We anticipate our next academic year will see an additional 100 to 125 new students and an additional campus. Our desire is to steward the growth with excellence and faithfully follow where the Lord is leading.
Step’s Forward
Nick has faithfully served in a volunteer capacity from day one. His role has been crucial to help manage growth and support families. As a result of the continued growth of A Latere, Nick will officially come on staff. Starting January 1, 2023, Nick will transition from his Executive Pastor role at Citylight Church to become the Chief Operating Officer of A Latere Academy. (This timeline is critical because January brings a large increase in administrative workload as we meet with new families and map out needs for the upcoming school year.)
The Challenge and Opportunity
A Latere does not yet have the budget to fully support both Nick and Ellen. In the marketplace a growing business would look to a round of investing to fund growth. Similarly, we see this as an opportunity to bring on “spiritual investors” who are excited about what God is doing at A Latere. We are praying for and seeking a team to support our family financially through 2023. The goal is to raise our salary needs for the entire calendar year through both one-time and monthly giving .
This step of faith feels huge, but we trust God is providing for our family during this time. Especially as we plan towards new seasons with our kids. Speaking of our kids, we’d love to share a quick update! Our fabulous four have faithfully served alongside us the past four years. We would covet your prayers as they step out in faith with us.
Family Update
Kate is serving with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). She is preparing to spend 6 weeks in South East Asia starting in January. Her health is good! We praise God for sustaining her physically and spiritually. Jack is finishing his senior year at Creighton Prep. He is hoping to attend Wheaton College after he graduates. He recently made the varsity powerlifting team. Ella is an 8th grader at A Latere Academy. She is very excited for high school and she loves music and worship arts. Anne is our 7th grader at A Latere. She loves people-time, academics, and dogs. Our beloved dog, Bennett, is bad 98% of the time, but we still love him (mostly all of us love him).
